About Me

Hi! And welcome to my humble website. So I finally got some time to write something about me and why I started this website.

I am originally from Casablanca, Morocco. I have been residing in New York for the last 12 years working part time and going to college. Currently, I am in the process of getting my Master’s in International transportation management.

Although I love New York and everything about it, the nostalgic feeling I get every time I think about Morocco has made me take every opportunity to fly back home and get me some quality time.

I must confess that my stay in Morocco is mostly spent on the beach but I do visit new museums and different monuments when the time is right. My second joy in Moroccan food. So, I am always on the look out for great Moroccan restaurants.

I am very proud of my identity as a Moroccan man, or rather a Moroccan Beber man. My parents are of berber origins. They migrated from Agerd, which is a small village in the Atlas Mountains close to Taroudant, and came to Casablanca for a better life. And that is where I was born and raised.

I was lucky I had a chance to go to Taroudant last year. I visited my grandfather’s grave and paid visits to family members who still live there. Life is not too harsh there as it used to be, as more developments are reaching those once neglected areas.

Some of my American friends noticed how I get so excited when I start talking about Morocco. They suggested that I write a book about it, fiction or non-fiction. At first I thought it was a great idea, but I decided to park that idea for now and build a website about Morocco for now as I get my writing skills more proficient.

There was one problem, though; I did not know how to make a website. So, I did some research and I discovered Site Build It and started my dream project.

Moroccan I welcome anyone who is interested in contributing to my website with stories about Morocco, pictures of Morocco, videos or anything that might add to the website.

I am dedicated to this project and my objective is to provide great information about everything Moroccan. And feel free to contact me for any reason.
