It is said that the name Morocco comes from Marrakech. Arab historians used the name of Marrakech City(Mraksh) referring to the country. It started when people used to say "Mor Koch" meaning walk quitely, because the area at the time knew a lot of robberies. And this name was quickly changed to Morocco.
Around 1000 BC, the leader Almoravid made Marrakech City a camp for his troops before that because the city was a camp of caravans. Youssef Ibn Tasufin built the first mosque in 1062, others will be built later.
At the same time, palm trees were planted and Marrakech became the capital of Morocco.

The Merinids made Fez the capital of the kingdom. But in the sixteenth century that Saadians will restore life and beauty in this city.
In 1917, under Saadians, the city was governed by the El Pasha Glaoui during the installation of French colonialism in Morocco in 1917.
It became a great and prosperous area as the governor took power of the Berber tribes too.
The independence of Morocco was signed in 1956. Shortly after (3 years) the El Pasha Glaoui died after that Morocco has regained all its property and Mohammed V took power.
The Ourika Valley is located south of Marrakesh. It is the most frequented valleys of the High Atlas. Compared to the city Ourika at 10 ° C to 15 ° C lower where many Marrakchis take refuge in the summer especially.
