Moroccan Jewelry
Moroccan Jewelry is very
popular with tourists,. It is said the Moroccan silver jewelry were
originally made by Jewish craftsmen.

Now, the most beautiful jewelry creations are made in the traditional
southern Morocco. Again, there are regional differences.

Thus, the smut that is inlaid in black enamel on antique
jewelry is made in the southern regions. The watermark on the other
hand, is worked in Essaouira and Tiznit.

The two families of jewelry found in Morocco are Berber jewelry and
urban jewelry.
The Berber jewelry is manufactured in South and the Moroccan
Sahara. Here we find the most gorgeous jewelry and the most noble.
Women often wear ornaments of silver or bronze with geometric or floral
shapes.

Women wear fibula jewelry on a dress, on their chest and as hair
ornaments. The fibula is a triangle often silver, engraved and
decorated with colored stones, used to fix the hanging of "Selham”. The
bracelets are, in turn, large and massive, decorated pyramidal peak.

In the south Atlas, the "Nbala”, hinged bracelet, is commonly made with
beautiful and colorful patterns. Currently, in Tiznit, Tafraoute and
Inezgane, jewelers sell in the bazaars old and unique pieces considered
rare pieces of art.

Regarding the town jewels, they have appeared throughout Morocco. They
are usually made of gold and decorated with precious stones: emerald
and diamond. They are worn only for special occasions such as
Moroccan
weddings.

Every bracelet is a unique piece of art.

Moroccan jewelry is truely an amazing craft that unfolds the artistic
side of
Moroccan
culture. It really takes us back to a time in
history that we should all preserve and encourage.
