Moroccan Music, growing up in morocco, was my spiritual happiness. But I never restricted my music of choice to one genre at all because I was exposed to a variety of music genres all the time everywhere I went in Morocco. Here is the list of the music genres I am going to expose:
My first music influences were mostly Shaabi and Rai music. I liked popular music because they playeDuring my teenage years, and as I started noticing the ladies, I became more interested in rai music. Its slow romantic melodies perfectly reflected my teenage experiences.
1. Al Ala Music (Andalusian Music).
2. Al Malhoune Music.
3. Gharnati Music.
4. Gnawa Music.
5. Arabian-Moroccan music.
6. Moroccan hip hop..
7. Religious Music.
8. Popular Music/chaabi.
9. Rai Music.
10. Taktouka Jabalia folklore, chamali from the mountains.
11. Berber music.

But my college years were brighter. My taste in music became broader. Middle eastern, Berber, tarab andalousi music, and some western music became my joy.
But enough about me and let's talk music.
Moroccan music is rich in its traditions, its folklore groups and orchestra date as old as the country itself.
And if in other parts of the world folklore has purposes other than recreation, Moroccan folklore has its traces from the various periods of the country’s history, as it expresses philosophical and social thoughts and even more with its rehabilitation from the environment where it emerged.

The traditional song is influenced by various cultures that have coasted there, including the influence by the sheikhs. The sheikhs (teachers) are the custodians of tradition, reviving the festivities in the villages (weddings, baptisms and other celebrations).
They are accompanied by instruments like the bendir. They sing ancient poems, religious texts and the everyday experience on joyful or melancholic tunes of the flute.
Press release from the 9th Festival Mawazine Since its inception in 2001, the Association of Morocco Cultures with the Region of Rabat organized a prestigious festival theme with a universal concept and bearer of great values: MAWAZINE - RHYTHMS OF THE WORLD.
The choice of this theme has become obvious, the rhythms constituting a window to the world, the identity of the country, bringing the concepts of earth, origins and authenticity.
Festival Mawazine therefore forms an approach of openness to world cultures, offering the public a musical journey around the planet. Diversity of sounds and rhythms is the watchword of this event, became in some editions of one of the largest festivals in the world. It will take place this year from May 21 to 29.
