Gnaoua World Music Festival of Essaouira slated June 24 to 27

    The event will begin with a fantasia show on Essaouira beach that will bring together Gnaoua troupes and musicians of other genres, the organizers said.

    The opening concert is one of the main festival's highlights. It will include among others Georgian Ballet dancers, Armenian Navy Band and the Maâlem Mohamed Kouyou and Maâlem Saïd Kouyou brotherhoods.

Morocco Shines in Cannes, Impresses World Producers

    The stand was of a great help to the Moroccan movie industry and facilitated making contacts with international professionals, especially European ones (film distributors, producers), Sail said in an interview with MAP.

    Morocco's participation in the festival is an opportunity for national filmmakers to sell their products and make contacts with their counterparts to boost co-productions, said Sail, also chairman of the Ouarzazate Film Commission which runs Morocco's stand at the Festival.

    Since 2006, Morocco takes part in Cannes Festival through its stand located in the International Village in order to consolidate its presence in the world film market and inform visitors about the shooting conditions in the Kingdom.

    Several international professionals have voiced their will to make co-productions or shoot their films in Morocco, according to CCM.
