Moroccan pottery
The Moroccan lands are rich in minerals, fossils and clay, an
abundance that enriched Moroccan pottery. The clay is used for cosmetic
purposes (Ghassoul) and also between the composition of many objects
such as Berber pottery, for cooking and decor, traditional and urban.
The traditional Moroccan pottery is shaped by women, without
the aid of a turn. Their manufacture is located in the north of Taza,
the Rif or the High Atlas and the south to Ouarzazate
and Zagora.

The urban pottery - objects of everyday use - are carried out mainly by
men, and are decorated with drawings of "Gatran" (tar) and different paints. They are found
throughout the Kingdom with some concentrations in Fez (best
Moroccan tiles), Meknes and
Sale, for example, which are famous for their glazed ceramics (
tiles of
Medersas).

Today there is an ascent of the city of Safi in the manufacture of
pottery with a metallic sheen, and pottery decorated with blue and
white. This rise is due to the emigration of many craftsmen who brought
with them their expertise in the seventies.
